Alexandra GUITÉ is a film director whose fiction and documentary films are innovative and engaging treatments of profoundly moving human stories. Curious and passionate, she can work as well on difficult political matter, current affairs as on personal psychological portrayals. Her films have been presented in numerous international film festivals. After living several years in Brazil, Portugal, Turkey and Argentina where she directed The Art of Resistance, a slice-of-life documentary on Argentine artists and creators who use their art to make a différence, she completed the Institut National de l’Image et du Son’s rigorous film direction program in 2006. She is also trained in philosophy, sociology and is very well versed in the Web 2 .0 and new technologies. Versatile and concise, she can research, direct, film and edit provocative political and point-of-view documentaries as well as more introspective fiction work. In her films, she has explored a broad variety of topics such as the aftermaths of a famous land expropriation, the poetics of mourning, the ssensuality of fobidden love, an engaging portrait of guilt, sound ecology and the decline of a family empire. Alexandra Guité's films use riveting visual language to intimately portray original and courageous characters thus exploring complex social and psychological dynamics. More broadly, her works explore today’s crucial social, personal and cultural realities.
